5 THINGS YOU WANT US TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY

1. I am a scientist. I completed my B.S. degree in Meteorology from Penn State University in 3.5 years. Penn State helped shape who I am today, making me passionate about giving back. I am an elected member of the Board of Directors for Penn State’s College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. I inspire students to achieve their goals because if you don’t invest in yourself, why should someone else?

2. “Absence makes the heart grow fonder” is very true. I fell in love with my husband, Nate, who was in the Army ROTC at Penn State. Six months after we were married, he deployed to Afghanistan. That year apart was a challenge, but our marriage withstood the hardship and I am very proud of Nate serving our country. As a reminder to cherish every second, I collect artistic wall clocks from around the world.

3. I’ve traveled to twenty countries, some of which were part of my job as a media planner with the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. We planned disaster scenarios to help the U.S. military and government agencies prepare for disasters. Combined with my meteorological background, this fueled the passion for my platform, “Natural Disaster Preparedness” for families and their pets.

4. I have three rescued cats and I adore animals. My oldest cat – also a rescue – lived to be 20 years old. I am a strict vegetarian and have to be on a gluten-free, lactose-free diet. Rather than this being a challenge, it has provided me the joy and opportunity of trying new restaurants and various ethnic foods.
