Susan Huntley
Susan's commitment to her platform, "Making Higher Education Possible" grew out of her own struggle to finance her college education. Determined to be the first in her family to earn a Bachelor's degree, she pursued every opportunity to offset the cost of her education. She earned a scholarship from the America's Junior Miss Program as New Jersey's Junior Miss 1993. As a result of this award and other scholarships she received, Susan not only graduated Summa Cum Laude from the College of Notre Dame, but she graduated debt free.
Committed to giving other students the same opportunity to achieve their educational goals, Susan became involved in the America's Junior Miss Scholarship Program and was named "Outstanding State Program Volunteer" in 2006. She served as a State Chairman for two years and is currently a state committee volunteer. Additionally, she is a member of the American Association of University Women and is active in fundraising efforts for their Educational Foundation. Since 2003, Susan has raised over $800,000 in scholarships for students.
A truly "international" woman, Susan's life experiences have taken her across the globe. She served as an English teacher in Japan and traveled extensively as a flight attendant with United Airlines. Susan was recently asked to honor her former United colleagues, who perished on September 11, 2001, by participating in the Flight 93 National Memorial oral history project sponsored by the National Park Service.
